Today I wanted to work on some adventure quests after several days of killing ships in East Asia and SEA. I stumbled upon the latest quests released in the new Mesopotamia expansion. So I decided to go ahead and do some quests from this chain. Below is information I've collected on the quests I'll be doing and on the region itself which appears to be a "great" place for collecting black-mud, berries and would you believe tobacco? lol. That Leader's cutlass is what I have been using since I was in maritime school until a few days ago when someone handed me a +95 attack sword - Now Ele uses my Leaders Cutlass - really a nice sword with a low fame requirement

Just outside the Azores was a 7-Star wreck filled with gold, a +1 plunder ring and an opal necklace. This was a discovery wreck for the image below. Enjoyed fighting the level 52 guy but other than that not too exciting. Decided to pop a blue flag that I earned as a freebie to avoid hassle of Ghost Ship attacks while salvaging. Can burn it for awhile since most of my wrecks are in hostile waters anyway.

Sao Tome 7-Star shipwreck. Yes, I do like gold and there was LOTS of it on this one. Strangely no items but the crew enjoyed the hospitality of the folks on this small island - then we WRECKED their economy and dumped all the gold - lol.

8-Star wreck in the middle of the Nile River. Lots of trade goods including "dragons blood" which FINALLY allowed me to complete a memorial album collection. Maybe I was lazy looking for that trade good

Rassalon is now in the Old West! I had a shipwreck to do off the waters of San Francisco which yielded some nice goodies including an Old Gold Managers +1 Management book. But enough about the shipwreck. I had to abandon this quest for San Francisco a few days ago due to time constraints. I took it again at Marsailles and saw it through to the end this time. Pre-Req is unlocking the Pacific Northwest region through the mercator quests. So you meet up with Justine in Marsailles and she convinces you to go look for beaver hides with some trading company exploring the Pacific Northwest. Your quest takes you to a landing point on the western North America (North America West). There the story continues and will eventually send you down to the town of San Francisco which this quest unlocks. San Francisco is a HUGE town compared to other standard towns in the game. It has a tri-guild center, bank, merchant, shipyard, gold appraiser and more. Pretty much all the goodies a town a needs. Part of unlocking this town unlocks the gold mining addition to the game. Miner's Pickaxe - bought in SF (increases gold finding and size of nuggets) Search Skill - needed for looking for gold Survey Skill - required to find the plots at which you'll mine. Cash - Required as you mine. Entering Fortune Time - End of Furtune Time // Cycles as you dig. FEVER!!!!! a random thing that pops up while you're mining and you strike it hot with LOTS of gold finds. After you've collected a bunch of gold nuggets you take them back to San Francisco and have them appraised and then will earn ducats. However there is also a way to trade for unique items as well. Pretty cool. XD

The discovery of LARGE nuggets! Ok so as you mine nuggets in the wild I've discovered that it splits them up into 1/2/3/4/5 cargo inventory spots. All of the different gold nuggets in those spots have the same picture and appear to be labeled the same. In my readings and trying to uncover some tips and tricks it would appear that they are in fact being divided up into small to large valued ones. The "3" or middle nugget cargo spot appear to be the mid-value. It then has to be determined whether the 1,2 or 4,5 spots are the low nuggets. I tested the 1 spot and I think that's the low value. By mining and dumping the 1 and maybe 2 spot I can bring back more of the 3, 4 and 5 gold ores. Will test this some more. Also today I discovered that the rewards rotate at the gold trade in spot in San Francisco which sucks as I wanted to go after the "black cowboy hat and the black outfit." So will try and figure out how and when this rotates.

Have been quite busy over the last week at work. Just wanted to post some of the adventures of Captain Rassalon from last night though which was a 5 hour marathon of turning the seas red with destroyed enemy ships. The story begins with Maverikk and I talking about killing ships in East Asia. I've been working on my maritime skills and looking to add other new skills and grind them in East Asia or SEA which are both my preferred regions to work. Mav wanted to work on his levels and I suggested the battle reports quest of killing 200 ships. Recommend people set-up a sort of pre-battle plan on how you'll both break to attack ships and which ones to target. Mav and I did this and without incident we took fleets down quickly. Especially once we started to figure out how to lead the ships for each other to score crits. Highly recommend fleets of players get together as this can be a lot of fun.

Ganador Mission: OxenstiernaOk so on Indy's suggestion I went after this Mission. First let me say I've been grinding mine laying and repair and the Ganador missions are "perfect" for this. I had been attacking 5 fleet Vaiss up north but THIS is insane for ships hitting mines and taking ALOT of enemy fire to do repairs. Battle Notes:There are various large ship fleets scattered around island chains in your mission area. You are already in battle when you leave the command center. Sailing out you'll encounter some ships that jump you with additional ships appearing to join the fight. I was engaging at least 10 ships in single encounter fights. Its a mix of fleets. Some will have large ships and smaller support ships. Some are slow some are quick so they throw a lot of different problems at you. You have 25+ minutes to work your way to the boss and kill him before time expires. If you do Victory and you get some stuff and xp. If you kill ships but neither engage the boss nor kill him in the allotted time the mission is considered a fail. No penalty you just get nothing in addition. Personal Strategy:I decided to employ 2 things... 1. the mine laying (which I was already grinding) and 2. cannon fire to take out these ships ( I have decent skills now in cannons). Keep in mind I went after this solo so figured a melee tie up would probably end up with 9 other ships hammering me to a quick death. Did my mine tactics for laying and then started maneuvering for kill shots. Early fleets present you with bow and stern shots. The fleets further ahead employ DHP (even the small ships) so stern shots are all you get on those. These ships try and speed at you for a melee tie up so that was challenging to stay ahead of. In addition they WILL score crits on you if you get surrounded quickly. Best idea is stay to the outside and for no reason sail into the middle unless you planned it ahead of time or suffer your own designed death. Final Notes:As you can see in the quick image below, this boss had a ship with 300+ sailors and 4000+ dura on the ship. Yes, those zeros are all in the right places. You will have to work and work on this guy's ship and he WILL melee you and kill people fast. The boss' fleet consists of many smaller fast ships and all these ships had DHP so you couldn't score bow crits. This would have been easier with a person drawing a ship across another persons line of fire. My strategy was try and move in behind turning and turning and trying to cross him up on mines which he "was" avoiding. However as you can see a mine scored the final needed damage to end him. I like Ganador for grinding maritime skills. I also enjoyed the insanity of 10+ ships coming at me. These missions seem to be designed for "groups" of players so perhaps in the future I'll grab a bunch of folks and we'll engage in some wild ship-to-ship action. XD

Where does the time go? It's been a month since I updated any posts here which is crazy because I've been busy in game but sadly just not posting adventures here. Captain Rassalon is busy and here are some of his going on's. 1. Balmung Sword Quest:Years ago I purchased this sword off a fellow company member who was moving in a different direction with sniping and didn't want their sword weapons anymore. I LOVE this sword as it has +3 swordplay and very high attack. Plus it has a really cool look to it. Recently a sad event happened in SEA in which one of my other characters accidentally lost a high end weapon so I'm questing for this sword out of a real need to add it. I'm excited to work on this quest and have completed the pre-quests and moving into the first couple Balmung ones now. 2. Gran Fluyt (Super Trade Tanker): I call it the poor man's Fu Ship. I acquired a special hull for this ship from a Mercator turned in quest that allows me to build it with a military color which in my case is Red for Venetian. Keel was laid in Venice and constructed. This ship only goes up to */5 so the challenge is what to do with it. I decided to go military/trade with it but now I'm wondering if I don't go back and convert this out to a trade/adventure ship with high cargo. Guess it's best to not do these things last minute on the fly. 3. Atlantis Quest Adventures: I've been battling a lot to raise maritime skills and needed a short break. So I decided to go back and re-visit adventure. With the new chapter I've worked on the Atlantis quest chain and right now I'm on the last phase which is treasure hunt and after I make a discovery it unlocks the Labyrinth dungeon on Crete. Which is a Dungeon I'm now missing since I've unlocked all the others.

ESF - Epic Sea Feud 6/3/2016 (Spain/France/Portugal Vs. Rassalon... er um England/Venice/Dutch/Otto)
The name sounds intimidating - but understand there are different things you can do depending on your levels and desire to engage. I'm never able to join these as they always seem to take place when I'm working or sleeping but lucked out last night and managed to make it for the standard and heavy hours. I stole two Spanish ships the "Mosquito" a Custom Frigate (Mav) and "Scigna-la Scimmia" a Shadow Neopolitan Galleass (Juan) to use in the fight against France & Spain. [Ok borrowed: Thanks Mav & Juan ] Was good fun and managed to fall in with a respectable group of Venetians & English who were great company and knew the drill. There are three different ways to participate in the ESF. PvE This is people attacking the 5-Ship Nation NPC fleets to score kills. You're trying to kill as many as quickly and more than the other nations are. This plays a part in helping swing the score back and forth if the score is tight in the other areas. Rewards are given for merits you acquire. PvPFor the more blood thirsty captain players engaging players in fleet combat of 5 ship fleets targeting and trying to kill as many of the other guys as they can. Higher rewards but higher combat requirements. Last time I did ESF this is what we did. PvFThis is player fleets attacking forts/cities and is strangely something I've yet to do. I saw a number of fleets showing the icon for this and as it turns out they blew up forts at Cairo and Jaffa last night as those cities now show "Fallen". There are unique skills for this and I that's about all I know. So last night Captain Rassalon was out too late with the family and "barely" made it back in time to even get to the ESF near Candia. This was bad as most people had already fleeted up and PvP, PvF groups had already formed. I was a bit saddened by this and when I got to Candia there wasn't anyone to join with as everyone was already out in the small ship engagements. I was bummed. As luck would have it though a player heard my shout looking to join a fleet and invited me into their PvE fleet for standard ships which I was more than happy to join as I just wanted to participate at this point. Much of your time in PvE is sailing around in a battle group and targeting the 5-ship NPC nation fleets. There are fleets for both sides all nations in two sea zones so the trick for us was finding Spanish, French and Portuguese fleets to hit. Fleets varied in strength and in standard I'd say we attacked about 7-8 fleets over a 1 hour span. I was using a borrowed Custom Frigate which looked like every other ship being used by fellow players. Scored some nice crits and basically tried to help set up the Admiral to get his kill shots. Players in my fleet said there weren't enough targets for all of the allied players to kill was the only complaint I was hearing. In the final hour Heavy ships came out and this is when the borrowed Shadow Neopolitan Galleass came out too. I was the only galley in a group of Razee and Vaiss player ships. Beast mode activated immediately when I got tied up in a melee fight with a French navy ship and in two melee attacks it was dead - that ship skill is awesome. Pretty much figured out the SNG was going to murder-kill anything it touched since I have decent melee skills but it's versatility as an attack ship reared it's head when I pulled off the dead ship and turned and crit'd another ship turning towards a fleet member. Half way through the hour our internet went down. Managed to hot spot a phone and re-joined through that connection but I ended up missing 15 minutes. Sucked. Oh well. Final Thoughts: I really enjoyed fleeting with other players who were good folk and getting a chance to play in ESF. Part of UWO is working with other players and you get to see their unique humor and personalities that make the game fun. Testing skills you've been grinding is also rewarding and you get to see that somewhat in PvE. I guess my only complaints with PvE are that there is alot of sailing around just trying to find targets. There should be some bad-ass capital ships that "could" kill your fleet but offer greater reward if you're brave enough to engage them. Finally add some ambush fleet areas where "you" get jumped by formidable NPC nation fleets. This was the only day I could do ESF. Hopefully next ESF I can arrive early enough to join a PvP or PvF fleet and compare that experience a little more fresh in my mind since it's been so long since I did PvP years ago. If you have a decent ship and decent skills I highly recommend PvE as a good starting point. If you're a sure of yourself and ship then PvP can be a wild experience. Still want to try PvF.
