Today I went afk in Seville tavern and when I returned I had a pleasant surprise... Robby! A fun loving true Italian who I had many adventures with from years ago. He had just got back into the game. So for old times sake we geared up to do an old EA run to Japan and trade in some tales of what we've both been up to as well as booze which we loaded in GREAT quantities from a little port hopping outside Venice and we were good to go to Edo. Robby with his super fast CLMS (Rass drools) allowed me the pleasure of looking at it's stats and holy hell this thing is a speed firecracker! Puts my Velocious Vixen LMS to shame, he shamed my girl! But enough of that. Now Robby is a fun dude. As we were sailing south from Madiera into dangerous waters I pointed out pirate players and he starts shooting off fireworks!!! I was like WTH Robby! ?! We passed into another sea zone, more player pirates and MORE fireworks!! Too funny. Finally as we sailed into EA waters I see like 6 pirate players lurking, I tell him we better run for it and you guessed it... Robby starts firing up entire salvos of fireworks all the way in. I figured any pirate must think we're completely nuts or to bring that much attention to ourselves we WANT to be attacked! Well I didn't, maybe Robby wanted to engage them. LOL. However whatever the hell this was we didn't see any attacks. Must be pirate repellent as I told Robby. We had a good paper lantern haul and as we headed out...... yup....... fireworks all THE WAY!!! (shakes head) It was a fun couple of hours and reminded me that it's more fun to fleet and do stuff with your fellow players as some of them might just be as nutz as you in this game. Thanks for the fun Robby! Captain Rass

Weekend Adventures:
Newfoundland
Over the weekend Mav and I decided we wanted to run battle reports for some good old fashioned cannon firing/melee fighting fun. We started out in Newfoundland hostile waters hoping to kill Vaiss ships and did so with great success. Unfortunately for us there are no true ports up there and we've yet to register any colonies by players who have company colonies in that area so we were pretty much screwed for re-supply and with supplies dwindling we headed south to find a port.
Carribean
So we turned in Newfoundland at Santo Domingo and decided to run Antilles battle reports instead. Setting up NE of Cuba and near Nassau (again in hostile waters) we worked over about 40 of the 200 needed for the quest and as we're conducting operations on a 4-ship fleet I noticed a player in a huge maritime ship circling and watching us. I sail away from the ships we're fighting and shadow the player for a moment to let them know we're aware of them. The ship turned and sailed far enough away to make it appear they were leaving but I could see him doubling back, Mav saw him too. When our battle with the NPC's is over I spot him to Mav that he's hanging on our left so we're both ready.
Pirate Player Attack - 2 MIS vs. ADZ + (Mystery Ship)
He engages us coming out of battle. Both Mav and I later think (fairly confidentally) that the guy in the ADZ probably thinks here's a couple of easy kills. It wasn't till the end we figured out he has a G6 ADZ and some serious skills to go with it. ADZ is a beast and is very balanced for all types of killing. So he had a reason to be super confident and the fact he was willing to engage 2 on 1 also said something though to be fair he was high level.
We immediately engage him in his ADZ both of us in lesser MIS ships (not known for their melee skills) and begin "circle" on him working to line up crit shots to take advantage of the sniper style these ships are so well suited for careful to keep the right distance. Mav and I both manage to get in a few crits. He fires back landing crits on us as well as both sides employ "repair" at furious rates to repair all of our ships getting hammered by crit shots. Both sides drop mines in the water but seems neither us nor him are striking them as the action moves away from that area into another.
Figuring instead he'll switch up and just kill us with hand to hand fighting he moves up along side Mav and begins to melee fight him. Mav being at a serious disadvantage with his much smaller crew number against the ADZ - I begin to spam "surgery" during the engagement desperate to keep Mav up in the fight. A series of green + + + + + over him seems like minutes as I just try to keep his numbers up against the much larger crew of the ADZ. Mav survives well and the ADZ is forced to break melee and use surgery himself then re-engages for another round and I again employ "surgery" and more + + + + + over Mav's ship.
At this point neither side has gained an advantage with us taking his best shots and us attempting to dish out ours onto him. For another couple of minutes both sides resume broadsides and working around one another to attempt to get into position. Sensing the fight drawing out and unable to subdue us with the super ship he calls in a reinforcement NPC Ottoman Military Vessel which appears and begins to engage.
Now 2 vs 2 he has his superior ship and a high-end NPC to engage us probably guessing he could keep one of us busy and then kill the other. I crit the damn Ottoman Military Vessel for 800 damage almost killing it and he quickly spam repairs it doing + + + + + on it. It then manages to tie me up for melee and I "retreat bell" out of it since again MIS not known for its high crew numbers.
At this point I'm running low on ammo, lumber and water -- keep in mind Mav and I had been fighting NPC's already for 20 minutes before this even started without a port re-supply. Sensing we're not in a position to finish off this guy or his NPC and seeing the combat supplies getting low it was time to call it. I party shout to Mav "withdraw" or "bail" and both of us sail out of combat. Our opponent in the ADZ says in open chat "GG" and I simply reply "same" to him.
Mav and I sail over to Santiago and dock. I think I remember saying something like "well good job on our sorta victory - lol." We discussed fighting the guy to a draw, what we'd do different in a future encounter and that's when Mav shared what we were fighting a G6 ADZ beast-mode ship. The engagaement lasted for what I think was somewhere in the 15-20 minute range and there wasn't much talk during it, just sailing, shooting and fighting over the open sea. Maybe from a maritime standpoint it's the purest form of what this game can be. Alot of fun. XD

LH_India has a colony started in Newfoundland.. not much there yet but it would be a supply port! Let me know if you want to register the colony!
Nice job on defending yourselves!

Cool Abbye. Yes that would be "super" helpful. I'll find you in-game at some point. XD

A better option than LH_India's barely started colony is Rogues of the Sea - Aldo's company. They have a really super nice colony with all the amenities - and its pretty close to Newfoundland in New France If you think that would be a good option, if I see you both on at the same time, I'll facilitate it

Rass is in Korea. I've set up my EA Base in Hanyang and have been working on adventure operations here. Finishing quite a few quests, chrono-quests and maps that I just never got around to doing. I currently have a shipwreck in unknown open waters that was getting a bit frustrating to track down so thought I'd spend a few days in East Asia and then resume my SW hunt.

Discovered an 8-Star Shipwreck "THE SOLENN" Outside the port of Danzig in the far North. Recog required on this one was "4" (easy) Not easy is that first attempt my MIS and an aide turtle failed to raise this thing. I switched to a turtle myself and with the combined strength of 410 men we FINALLY raised this ship. 126 Pearl 58 Black Ore 70 Cannon Shot (14) Cannon Amethyst hair Ornament

Today was "truly" an adventure for old Captain Rass. I completed a sw map yesterday and went ahead and fired up a new 29 piece map that indicated it was a 9-Star and I saw "arctic" white land masses which as I know now are challenging sw's. This one I figured out was far East Russia along the arctic in the middle of nowhere almost but no where close to northern Japan. Yay my favorite - no real ports! (sarcasm) However being the adventurer that I am I decided this was a GREAT challenge to Captain Rass and he never backs away from a challenge. 35 days of sailing in the LMS from Europe along the wintery, stormy recesses of ice flow damages and hell-rific storms I found the small port of Tikrit. An abysmal port that contains no taverns, no banks, no SY basically no port - you can't go inside. So Captain Rass was already prepared from his last visit and simply re-supplied. Here he switched ships to his daunted MIS warship which has been a trustworthy dependable friend on the 7-Seas. Configuring for salvage Rass headed off into the icy unknown to track his salvage prey. Arriving several sea zones away Rass discovers the SW and proceeds with his crew of 150 and 60 on his aide ship to raise this behemoth from the icy depths of the frigid northern arctic waters. 3%, 6%, 9% (uh-oh) 12%, tossed crew, tossed crew, 15% tossed crew. Things don't go well for Captain Rass and his crew. Near 60% the wreck slips back into the waters where it drowned. Discouraged but not defeated, Captain rass orders his crew back to the awful port of Tikrit (the sound a sailor makes when operating the handle on the crapper) and he pulls himself and crew back into port. This Salvage needed a special ship. It needed something that only a Venetian could truly appreciate. It needed the strength and national pride of a fully armed Venetian Galleas, one of the largest ships ever built in Venice. This ship called "Aumento Venezio" crewed up to 272 sailors and with its powerful salvaging abilities it sailed back to the icy depths and crew and captain salvaged what could only be described as a High Clipper type ship from the ocean depths. In what seemed like 25 days of stopping, securing haul, going, stopping and so on the ship was returned to Tikrit (a sailor flushes in the background) and the shipwreck was ready to explore. Captain Rass was rewarded well for his patience. Shoes of Pioneers +1 Geography +1 Biology Boots of Pioneers + Recognition +1 Navigation 14 SW map pieces 55 Seal of Undine (FS) Set of Repair Tools 155 Fur 58 Gold 71 Alexandrite

Captain Rass in co-operation with the Maverikk Maritime Fleet Yards borrowed a Sovereign of the Seas warship which to the delight of old Captain Rass and crew was a true delight to sail throughout the Caribbean and North American waters. I had an 8-Star wreck to find off the coast of California and this ship as a salvage vessel was simply awesome. Typically I get anywhere from 5-6% raise rate and with the SOTS I was enjoying 10% rates especially since the clipper I was raising was pretty large. Overall I highly recommend SOTS in its salvage capabilities which takes nothing away from its awesome fire power and crew compliment as a high end warship. I'm impressed. The shipwreck was filled with some weird cargo called "ice wine" some sort of northern icy vintage. The exquisite velvet will be handy for the wife's Captain who is a tailor. Otherwise nothing mind blowing this go around. 292 Ice Wine 80 Gold Dust Winner's Amulet +2 Mineral +1 Metal (trading) 11 x Exquisite Velvet 25 x Elixir and.... Rass has uncovered an interesting 9-Star wreck. Details to follow.
